Does your Orbis maize header frequently slip at the slip clutch?
This may well be caused by fatigued springs.
Here is how to address it:
- Remove the slip clutch.
- Release the spring plates and remove them.
- Remove the horseshoe-shaped springs from the clutch.
- Check whether they still have sufficient spring force. Over time they weaken and lose their effect.
The photo shows the springs from four clutches. New springs are positioned on the outside. Notice how far they flex while lying unloaded on the workbench, a clear difference.
Solution: replace these horseshoe-shaped springs. In many cases, this stops the slip clutch from slipping.
