Grass flaps: unrestricted flow
The grass flap is designed with straight sides. This allows grass to leave easily when it reaches the end flap. During grass harvesting, the trailer usually drives close to the spout, so an extremely concentrated stream is less important than unrestricted flow. The main goal is for the grass to leave the spout as quickly as possible without resistance or build-up.
Maize flaps: focus on a concentrated stream
The corners of a maize flap taper slightly. This concentrates the crop stream from the discharge spout more tightly than a grass flap. This is particularly important when opening a field. A tighter stream greatly reduces smearing or crop spilling beside the trailer.
